This cutting-edge program equips graduates for teaching roles in elementary schools (grades 1-6), addressing the needs of today's diverse student bodies. Participants engage in a challenging curriculum that empowers them to positively impact young learners by cultivating comprehensive inclusive education principles and teaching methods. Alongside core liberal arts requirements and specialized study in one liberal arts discipline, the program features professional coursework that incorporates strategies for educating both neurotypical students and those with special needs from various cultural backgrounds. Hands-on teaching practice occurs at multiple Syracuse locations during the program, including schools leading the way in inclusive education. Students may also choose the Bridge to the City option for a semester of student teaching in New York City.
