Syracuse University's mathematics education curriculum is a joint initiative between the School of Education and the College of Arts and Sciences, allowing students to obtain a single degree with majors from both institutions. Through coursework and practical training, students develop skills to meet the needs of diverse learners in an evolving society, focusing especially on mathematical expertise, inclusive and culturally responsive teaching methods, thoughtful analysis of instructional practices, evaluating student progress in mathematical understanding, fostering numerical literacy, and maintaining professional standards and teamwork.
