The Mathematics Department aims to equip students with comprehensive mathematical knowledge, techniques, and analytical capabilities essential for graduate studies or mathematics-intensive professions. Students can pursue either a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in mathematics, both delivering a robust mathematical foundation. The B.A. curriculum promotes language studies, while the B.S. program focuses on supplementary coursework in physical sciences and computer science.
Graduates from the mathematics or applied mathematics programs will:
Show proficiency in employing algebraic, geometric, calculus, advanced reasoning, and statistical approaches to model and address practical challenges.
Apply mathematical logic and deductive reasoning to construct valid mathematical proofs.
Utilize computational resources to strengthen mathematical comprehension, solve problems, and evaluate solution validity.
