Students can apply for the Honors Degree once they've completed at least 60 undergraduate credit hours, with a minimum of 10 credits in biological sciences. To graduate with Honors in Biological Sciences, students must maintain a 3.2 GPA both in their major and overall. Biology graduates develop strong critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills, making them valuable assets across various industries. Through their studies, they gain insights that help them understand themselves, the world around them, and their role in it - whether pursuing scientific careers or applying their knowledge to influence societal decisions. The Biological Sciences Department provides an Honors Program for outstanding students and administers several prestigious awards including the Martin V. Torok Memorial Award, the Norman J. and Elsie H. Gillette Biology Award, and the Zoology Senior Award.
