The Department of Biological Sciences' Accelerated Graduate Degree Program for the Master of Arts enables students to earn credits toward their master's degree more quickly.
Upon admission to this program during their senior year, students can count up to 12 credit hours of 5000-level coursework taken as undergraduates at WMU toward both their bachelor's and master's degrees in biological sciences. This pathway makes it possible to finish the M.A. degree just one year after completing undergraduate studies.
This program is open to WMU undergraduate students who meet the following:
You are enrolled as a biological sciences major at WMU
You have completed a minimum of 80 and a maximum of 96 credit hours in your undergraduate program, including credits earned from advanced placement, or you are a transfer student who has completed 30 total credits at WMU and 15 credits of BIOS courses at WMU
You have a minimum accumulated grade point average of 3.25 at WMU and 3.5 in biological sciences classes
Minimum English proficiency test scores:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 80 iBT
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic: 6.5
Pearson Test of English, Academic Module (PTE): 54
Michigan English Test (MET): 57
Application deadlines:
There are two deadlines for the accelerated M.A. program annually: October 1 and February 1.
