Application Process:
Available to any student maintaining a 3.5 GPA in history courses after completing fifteen history credit hours.
Applications should be submitted to the department chair.
The department chair and student's advisor will evaluate all applications.
The thirty-nine credit hour history major first provides students with comprehensive historical overviews of global civilizations, nations, and empires before focusing on specialized regional or thematic studies. A historical methods course is mandatory. History courses play significant roles in various interdisciplinary majors, including American Studies, Gender and Women's Studies, and Global and International Studies within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, as well as the social studies concentration in Adolescence and Childhood Education. History majors typically enjoy ample elective options in complementary fields aligned with their professional aspirations or personal interests.
