This major provides an interdisciplinary scientific approach to studying environmental challenges. You'll investigate humanity's impact on nature while developing solutions for global ecological concerns. The curriculum combines core environmental science studies with biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics coursework. Additionally, you'll examine environmental dimensions through ethics and policy classes. Science classes take place in our cutting-edge facility equipped with advanced laboratories and research spaces. The program offers an optional practicum—an immersive opportunity to tackle actual environmental issues. Previous students have completed practicums at organizations like the EPA, Massachusetts Public Health Department, and Coastal Zone Management Office. Graduates can pursue advanced degrees or careers in government, research institutions, environmental nonprofits, advocacy organizations, or educational settings. Other potential career paths include public health and corporate sustainability roles.
