Since its inception, the graduate program has pioneered innovative approaches. We consistently prioritize cross-disciplinary research and cultivating proficiency in analyzing foreign language texts, while mandating that students build comprehensive expertise in philosophical history. The curriculum also incorporates significant teacher training elements. Additional pioneering initiatives introduced by our department include Graduate Certificates, which validate a student's specialized coursework and prepare them to teach at the intersection with related fields. The Program features seminars across three areas: Historical Philosophy, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Modern Philosophical Thought. Students then choose further seminars within one area to develop their specialization. Beyond completing twelve seminars (36 credits), requirements include a Teaching Practicum (3 credits) plus several non-seminar components: logic and language proficiencies, two research projects, a Philosophy History Examination, and a Dissertation Proposal Program.
