The Biomedical Engineering Department provides a major in Biomedical Engineering that culminates in a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree. This program delivers comprehensive engineering instruction combined with robust training in biological and physical sciences within a demanding, interdisciplinary learning and research setting. It aims to foster creativity and collaborative skills by allowing students to concentrate on a specific biomedical engineering specialization. Emphasis is placed on teamwork, effective communication, and practical laboratory and research involvement. Students gain foundational engineering knowledge to comprehend biological organism formation and environmental interactions. ABET's Engineering Accreditation Commission has accredited the Biomedical Engineering BE program.
Additionally, the Department provides an accelerated five-year B.E./M.S. degree that requires just one extra year of study beyond the bachelor's degree. This accelerated B.E./M.S. program is designed for exceptional and driven BME undergraduates seeking preparation for doctoral programs or advanced professional roles. Admission to this selective program depends on academic achievement and undergraduate research experience.
