The five-year combined B.S./M.S. program enables students to earn a standard four-year Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, then continue for one additional year to obtain a Master of Science in Computer Engineering.
Beyond GW's general dual degree requirements, students must fulfill these specific academic conditions:
Complete any departmental Bachelor of Science curriculum, with the stipulation that two Technical Electives (minimum six credits) must be selected from the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering's graduate course catalog. As per standard procedure, all undergraduate Technical Electives require approval from the student's academic advisor. Importantly, these two ECE graduate courses count toward both the bachelor's and master's degrees in the combined program.
Complete eight additional graduate-level courses totaling twenty-four credit hours. All graduate courses must receive approval from the student's academic advisor.
Combined program participants gain enhanced research opportunities during their undergraduate studies and are encouraged (though not required) to complete an MS thesis.
A minimum 3.0 GPA is required for program admission. Students must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA through their eighth semester to proceed to the ninth semester in the combined program.
All prospective applicants must first consult with their academic advisors before applying to the program.
Students should apply to the George Washington University (GW) as a first-year applicant if you are currently in your senior year of high school, have earned a GED or completed high school.
English Language Requirements: A minimum score of 90 on the TOEFL; OR A minimum score of 6.5 on the IELTS; OR A minimum score of 61 on the PTE Academic
