The STEP program is an intensive 12-month curriculum blending academic theory with hands-on practice. Participants engage in classroom teaching during mornings, followed by afternoon classes and a weekly seminar that builds professional community and enhances teaching skills. The integrated coursework and fieldwork equip graduates to tackle real-world educational challenges, support diverse learners, and assume leadership positions in schools. Elementary candidates complete at least 45 units across four quarters, earning both a master's in education and a preliminary California multiple subject credential, with an optional Spanish bilingual authorization. Each participant gains experience through two or three supervised teaching placements guided by veteran educators and university mentors.
Applicants from colleges and universities of recognized standing who hold a U.S. bachelor's degree or its equivalent are eligible to be considered for admission for graduate study. English Proficiency: TOEFL - Your minimum score must be 100 (internet based) OR 600 (paper based).
