The U.S. healthcare system currently represents over 16% of the nation's gross national product - approximately one in every six dollars spent across all goods and services. Given this massive scale and its unsustainable expansion, studying America's healthcare framework becomes critically essential to understand its strengths, weaknesses, and potential improvements in quality while reducing expenses. A specialized degree combining medical, regulatory, and legal expertise will prove invaluable for those aiming to transform the system or simply maintain its functionality. Our joint degree program offers two master's options: health services research and epidemiology. Both curricula equip students to critically evaluate extensive medical research, including pivotal clinical studies. The epidemiology master's program focuses on statistical training and its practical implementation for population-level challenges. While traditionally focused on disease patterns, these analytical approaches also extend to assessing social phenomena, such as violent crime rates or drug-related arrests. Law students pursuing these programs will benefit from our institution's unique positioning for such interdisciplinary work.
