The Department of Health Science provides a graduate program culminating in a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree focused on Community Health Education. This advanced program complements the undergraduate division, which offers Bachelor of Science degrees in both Community Health and School Health. With a faculty comprising eleven full-time professors, six full-time lecturers, and around 35 part-time instructors holding key roles in public health organizations, the department maintains strong professional connections. The graduate program holds accreditation from the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).
Additionally, through collaborations with the College of Health and Human Services and the Center for Latino Community Health, Evaluation, and Leadership Training, the department provides a Graduate Certificate program specializing in Latino Health and Nutrition Studies.

Qualification Requirements
Each applicant must request a copy of official transcript(s) of all work be sent to the Office of Enrollment Services. Graduates of CSULB will not need to submit transcripts.
A bachelor's degree with a major in health education/public health or a related discipline such as psychology, sociology, social work, biomedical engineering, etc., or a clinical major. You may apply before your degree is conferred, but your degree must be completed by the beginning of the semester you are planning to enroll.
An overall undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0.
Three letters of recommendation written by a professional and/or academic individual with knowledge of the candidate's potential for graduate education. All letters must be written on institutional letterhead and utilize an institutional email address (student will submit names/email via Cal State Apply), if this requirement poses a hardship, please contact the Graduate Program Coordinator to discuss options.
A separate personal statement illustrating your understanding of the field of public health and commitment to public health. (Student will submit directly to Cal State Apply) Methods of illustration may include, but are not limited to:
The experiences that have shaped your interest in public health and/or the concentration to which you are applying.
Comment on your particular interest in Community Health, Global Health, and/or Latino Health.
