The Spanish major concentrates exclusively on mastering the Spanish language, its literary works, and cultural background. Tailored for learners aiming to achieve proficiency in reading, listening, speaking, and writing Spanish, this curriculum combines linguistic skills with cultural awareness. It highlights the analytical application of Spanish from an international viewpoint. The diploma and official transcript will indicate Spanish as the completed major. Students must complete 60 credit units for this degree, with all academic work conducted in Spanish. For courses taught in other languages, written assignments (including final papers) must still be submitted in Spanish.
A high school diploma or the equivalent is required in order to enroll at Stanford. Generally, we receive English proficiency exam results (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test, etc.) from applicants whose native language is not English and/or the primary language of instruction at their secondary school is not English.
