Explore German language, linguistics, literature, culture, and philosophy. The German Studies Department provides diverse programs covering German language, linguistics, literary works, cultural studies, and philosophical thought. These courses welcome both majors and any students with interest. With strategic program planning, students can meet the B.A. requirements for a dual major combining German Studies with another discipline. Options include an expanded undergraduate major in English and German literature, concurrent B.A./M.A. programs in German Studies, and collaborative Ph.D. initiatives with Comparative Literature, Interdisciplinary Humanities, Linguistics, and Modern Thought and Literature.
