The European Studies program examines Europe through multiple academic lenses in the humanities and social sciences. As Europe represents both a physical location and an evolving concept across history, its significance has varied across eras and regions. This academic pursuit demands a flexible, diverse curriculum that critically engages with Europe's multifaceted identity. The program offers an interdisciplinary perspective on Europe's comprehensive development, including its historical evolution, political structures, cultural influences, and worldwide interactions beyond European borders. Students can concentrate on particular aspects of European heritage that transcend conventional academic and national divisions. All European Studies students are highly encouraged to participate in the UC Education Abroad Program within a European nation.
