The Department of Government and Politics equips students for continuous education, aligning with the University Strategic Plan's objectives. Students in Government and Politics develop essential critical thinking, analytical writing abilities, and a principled grasp of diverse political matters. They apply these skills through Academic Service-Learning and internships that encourage civic engagement and dedication to serving communities at local, national, and global levels.
The Department's curriculum mirrors these key priorities, providing undergraduates with an extensive selection of courses organized into political science's four primary subfields:
American Government, focusing on political structures and legal systems,
International Relations and Comparative Politics, highlighting regional studies,
Political Theory, covering classical, modern, and contemporary philosophies, and
Public Administration, concentrating on personnel management and cross-national political analysis.
