The Philosophy Department at Southern Illinois University provides both major and minor degree options in philosophy, including a pre-law concentration. Our department embraces diverse philosophical traditions, offering courses in analytic philosophy, phenomenology, American thought, Asian philosophies, and feminist perspectives. Faculty expertise spans multiple areas: philosophical history, logical reasoning, moral philosophy, metaphysical studies, political and legal theory, science philosophy, technology ethics, and religious philosophy. Our undergraduate program is officially recognized by Phi Sigma Tau, the national philosophy honor society.

A completed application for admission. Current, official transcripts from each high school and college youve attended. All transcripts must be issued within the last 30 days and be contained in official sealed envelopes or sent through an electronic transcript system. These must be sent directly from the testing organization or listed on your official high school transcript.
