The Art History Program delivers a comprehensive, interdisciplinary education examining art and visual culture through historical, political, social, cultural, and material lenses, with emphasis on both worldwide and local artistic perspectives.
Students investigate artistic creation and interpretation across eras, from ancient civilizations to modern contemporary art. The curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills tailored for arts professionals, applicable across diverse fields and further studies in art history or studio practices.
This distinctive program includes studio art courses, allowing collaboration with professional artist faculty on two- and three-dimensional creative projects. Students can access the University Museum's collections and Morris Library's Special Collections for research. Museum internships provide hands-on experience with artwork and artifacts, equipping students for careers in arts institutions and museums.
