You will earn an Associate in Applied Science degree, putting you on the path to a professional pilot career. Many students start flying in their first semester. Eligible students can also serve as Certified Flight Instructors (CFI) within the program.

Flight training takes place at Southern Illinois Airport, next to our Transportation Education Center. Our courses are approved by the Federal Aviation Administration, and FAA-designated check pilots oversee your progress in flight courses. Theory courses support your flight training.

SIU's Aviation Flight Program aims to deliver thorough flight education to equip professional pilots for current and future aviation industry needs. We take pride in our AABI Accreditation.

Qualification Requirements

A completed application for admission. Current, official transcripts from each high school and college youve attended. All transcripts must be issued within the last 30 days and be contained in official sealed envelopes or sent through an electronic transcript system. A final high school transcript will be required upon graduation and completion of all high school course work. An official copy of ACT or SAT scores. These must be sent directly from the testing organization or listed on your official high school transcript. English Language Requirements: TOEFL - 68 on the internet based test, TOEFL - 520 on the paper-based test, IELTS - 6.0
