The Certificate of Achievement in IGETC for STEM (CSU) is granted after fulfilling the IGETC for STEM (CSU) general education requirements specified in the catalog year's worksheet. A minimum of 33 units must be completed across five subject areas. As mandated by state regulations, this IGETC for STEM (CSU) general education pathway is exclusively available to students pursuing an Associate Degree for Transfer in Biology or Environmental Science. This credential acknowledges the fulfillment of lower-division STEM general education prerequisites for the CSU system.
Important: The IGETC for STEM (CSU) option permits students to postpone six (6) units of general education coursework from the standard 37-39 unit IGETC pattern. Those following the IGETC for STEM (CSU) plan may delay one Area C course and one Area D course until after transferring. Prior to transfer, these deferred lower-division courses must be substituted with calculus and/or science courses required for the student's major.
