Simmons University provides a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program that delivers outstanding education in social work practice and academic study. In 1904, Simmons made history as the first college to provide clinical social work training. Over the years, the university has continued to lead innovation in social work education.
Our BSW program creates life-changing educational experiences through intimate class settings, hands-on learning opportunities, and close guidance from faculty mentors.
BSW students at our university are united by their intellectual curiosity, community spirit, desire for social transformation, and dedication to equity and human rights. The program emphasizes building practical competencies, professional development, and field readiness.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a 13% growth in social work employment from 2019 to 2029, significantly outpacing the average for all professions.
Graduates of our BSW program are equipped to sit for the Licensed Social Worker exam, pursue Master's degrees in Social Work (with eligibility for accelerated Advanced Standing programs), and launch careers in various settings including community organizations, youth services, schools, elder care, and social advocacy groups.
