At Cal Poly Humboldt, you'll transform classroom knowledge into real-world experience by applying your skills across various environments—from small nonprofits and tribal services to large public agencies and international initiatives. Our students build enduring connections with faculty who are deeply invested in their growth. We understand our students as whole community members, not just scholars. The student-faculty relationship fosters reciprocal learning, with professors prioritizing student welfare through empathy and support.
Humboldt's Social Work program blends professional training with liberal arts foundations, equipping graduates as versatile practitioners. Students gain the expertise, principles, and techniques to serve diverse populations across individual, family, organizational, community, and policy settings. Both our bachelor's and master's programs hold full accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education.
Our educational philosophy champions thoughtful analysis, ethical practice, human empowerment, and conflict mediation. The department advocates for innovative approaches grounded in justice, inclusivity, collaboration, non-hierarchical relationships, and respect for each student's distinct professional aspirations.
