As a participant in the 3+1 accelerated program, you'll obtain a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Information Technology within three years. During your fourth year, you'll apply these skills to earn a Master of Science in Library and Information Science. This integrated curriculum exposes you to computing fundamentals, data architecture, practical skills, and the legal/ethical considerations of technology in modern information fields. The realm of information professionals extends far beyond libraries, encompassing the growing digital landscape of information careers. These fields involve managing printed materials, digital assets, cultural/scientific datasets, archival systems, user interfaces, and serving diverse information seekers. Exciting prospects exist for those connecting traditional and emerging information services. Comfortable with both print and digital formats, today's librarians represent just one facet of information specialists - working across libraries, museums, corporate archives, metadata development, and other knowledge-intensive settings to safeguard essential physical and digital resources for education, business, arts, and society. Contemporary information experts may focus on preserving and providing access to physical collections, cultural artifacts, or born-digital materials, utilizing computer technologies that enable effective organization and retrieval to meet humanity's information needs.
