Seton Hall University's Secondary Education Program provides an innovative approach to teacher preparation, emphasizing culturally responsive instruction and social justice advocacy. This comprehensive program delivers a challenging academic experience designed to equip aspiring teachers for diverse learning environments, especially in urban settings, through strong school-community collaborations. Our justice-oriented philosophy aligns with Seton Hall's commitment to developing globally minded professionals and community leaders. Through research-driven, technology-enhanced coursework, education majors experience cooperative learning while bridging educational theory with classroom application. The Bachelor of Science in Education (Secondary) spans four years and requires completion of at least 120 credits. Graduates develop expertise for dual certification in both their chosen subject area and special education, earning: (a) a content-area teaching certificate and (b) a special education certification. The program features progressive field experiences throughout the final three years of study.
