The Liberal Studies program awards a Bachelor of Arts degree, offering a more personalized educational approach compared to traditional majors within the College of Arts and Sciences. This program builds upon liberal arts education as the cornerstone of students' intellectual growth and career readiness. Participants craft their own academic path by choosing from diverse course offerings, developing skills in critical reading, effective writing, and artistic appreciation. Graduates often pursue advanced studies or careers in fields like education, business, law, linguistics, and creative writing.
This program creates a strong academic base across the College of Arts and Sciences disciplines. To earn the major, students must fulfill the College's core requirements along with an 18-credit minor, 15 extra liberal arts credits, a writing course (3 credits), and a Senior Seminar. Once these requirements are completed, students take elective courses to reach the 120-credit minimum for graduation.
