The updated Master in Teaching (MIT) program launched in 1990 as an intensive one-year, full-time, daytime, in-person teacher training curriculum. By finishing this three-quarter program, you'll earn both a Master's Degree in teaching and a Washington State Residency Teaching Certificate. Participants can focus on either elementary education or a specialized secondary subject area. Recent program enhancements preserve our longstanding social justice principles while deepening our dedication to anti-racist, inclusive teaching practices that address contemporary challenges. This full-time, cohort-style program fosters discussions among students and faculty about social justice, individualized support, and building collaborative learning environments.
