The Master of Fine Arts in Writing (MFAW) program embraces writers across all disciplines—including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and drama—as well as visual artists incorporating language into their creative work. This two-year degree offers a structured yet adaptable curriculum designed to push boundaries while supporting personal artistic development in both process and form.
Academic Structure
Core Graduate Projects: Serving as the foundation of the Writing MFA, these projects follow the studio visit model. Students engage in personalized sessions with faculty mentors, receiving detailed critiques on their self-directed creative work. Participants have the opportunity to collaborate with advisors from both the Writing Program and other departments, broadening the conceptual frameworks relevant to their artistic practice.
