The Justice Studies Program at Santa Barbara City College prepares students for immediate careers in law enforcement, legal fields, or corrections, while also providing foundational education for those planning to transfer to four-year universities or law schools.
All Justice Studies courses are taught by California-certified instructors with professional backgrounds in criminal justice or legal practice. Students earn full college credit for completed courses and can obtain either a Certificate of Achievement or Associate in Science Degree upon finishing their selected program.
The criminal justice field offers diverse career paths across federal, state, and local agencies, including positions with the FBI, Homeland Security, Border Patrol, CHP, police and sheriff's departments, correctional facilities, probation services, and forensic science units.
Graduates of high schools or equivalent are eligible for admission, with the equivalent of a GPA of 2.0 or better.
Students must be 18 years or older by the start of the semester without restrictions.
