The MS in Nursing program offers focused study paths including:
Nurse Educator track
Family Nurse Practitioner option (available through Special Session)
These specialized course groupings serve as advising tools for departments. Note that specializations won't be listed on official transcripts or degree certificates. For additional information, consult with an academic advisor.
Nurse Educator pathway
Additionally, the School of Nursing provides an MS in Nursing focused on Family Nursing Practice, detailed elsewhere in this catalog. San José State University also features a predominantly online Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program.
Students must have a Completion of an accredited baccalaureate program in nursing with an upper-division major comparable to that offered at San José State University. Applicants who have completed other curricula or who have deficiencies will be considered individually and may be required to enroll in designated courses. Applicants must present a GPA of at least 3.0 in the last 60 units of the undergraduate nursing major.
English Language Proficiency: IELTS: 6.5; TOEFL – 80 (IBT), paper based – 550, Computer based – 213; Pearson Test of English (PTE) – 53.
