Our Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program equips graduates to evaluate and address diverse healthcare needs for individuals and families throughout all life stages. With a concentrated emphasis on community-centered primary care, students can finish the MSN program's mandatory 49 credits in four semesters full-time or opt for part-time study. The FNP specialization also offers a Post RN DNP option spanning seven consecutive semesters. Upon completion, graduates qualify to take certification examinations through either the American Nurse Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. The program includes over 600 hours of hands-on clinical training under direct supervision, focusing on treating acute conditions and managing stable chronic illnesses. Students gain experience across 40+ community locations and private practices, offering comprehensive primary care exposure to patients of every age group. Rotations are available in specialized fields including endocrinology, cardiology, neurology, dermatology, orthopedics, and palliative care. Clinical training occurs at diverse settings such as public health clinics, hospital outpatient facilities, HMO centers, community health clinics, VA outpatient services, homeless healthcare centers, and private medical practices.
