The SJSU School of Music and Dance's Brass Program is growing quickly and boasts faculty members who rank among the top brass educators in the San Francisco Bay Area. Students enjoy diverse performance options, such as studio recitals and public Listening Hour Concerts hosted by the School. They can also join outstanding ensembles like brass chamber groups, University bands, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Orchestra, and multiple jazz combos.
The School of Music and Dance provides a Bachelor of Music with a Performance Concentration, tailored for aspiring professional musicians. Alongside foundational music studies, the program features weekly hour-long private lessons and involvement in major ensembles like choirs, bands, symphony orchestra, and opera productions. Participants frequently perform as soloists and in chamber groups, both in studio settings and public concerts. The curriculum also mandates junior and senior recitals as key milestones.
