The music major offers two distinct degree paths. Each program provides access to private instruction with renowned faculty musicians and scholars, alongside required coursework in music theory, history, keyboard proficiency, and ensemble performance. Students opting for the bachelor of arts degree will engage in approximately three years of intensive musical training. This program features six consecutive semesters of private instruction, concluding with a junior recital during the final semester. Students focusing on music research may substitute a research project or paper for the recital and final semester of lessons. The BA program mandates the inclusion of a minor field of study within the curriculum.
