The Department of Film and Theatre equips students with the skills needed for thriving careers and influential positions in performance and media arts. We cultivate exceptional talent across various disciplines including media production, directing, acting, screenwriting, design, cinematography, and technical roles. The Radio-Television-Film BA program nurtures creative vision and artistic development within a challenging academic framework. This immersive curriculum prioritizes practical, project-based learning using cutting-edge facilities and professional production techniques. Students master television/film production, screenwriting, media studies, and audio production while building a strong theoretical foundation. Our media studies component examines the historical, cultural, and critical dimensions of broadcasting and film. Throughout the program, students gain real-world experience through Spartan Studios (our on-campus production facility), television/film direction opportunities, film festival internships, and media projects spanning from the Bay Area to global locations.
Students must Earn a high school diploma, or equivalent and earn the equivalent of a U.S. 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or an average of “B” grades. Successfully complete three years of college preparatory mathematics with a minimum grade of “C-” or better.
English Language Requirements: IELTS - 6.0, TOEFL – 61 (IBT), Paper based – 500; Pearson Test of English (PTE) – 44.
