The Media Studies and Production (MSP) program goes far beyond conventional communications or broadcasting degrees, equipping students for today's non-stop media landscape. By blending media theory with hands-on production, MSP ensures graduates understand both the principles and practices of media work, giving them a competitive edge in the job market. As media constantly evolves, the MSP curriculum prepares students not just for current opportunities but for future careers that haven't even emerged. Leveraging Philadelphia's major media market as an extended classroom, we focus on skill-building, professional growth, and networking from day one, enabling students to adapt swiftly and emerge as industry leaders. Our dynamic, team-based program teaches practical media applications, multi-platform content creation, and technical production skills using state-of-the-art equipment for audio and video engineering. The curriculum also covers media history, cultural and gender portrayals, legal/ethical considerations, and strategic media use across industries like advertising, marketing, business, news, and entertainment. The International Communication Concentration (ICC) offers specialized training in global and cross-cultural media, helping students develop valuable intercultural competencies by examining their own cultural perspectives. ICC participants gain international exposure through globally-focused courses at Temple's campuses, with optional study abroad opportunities to enhance their learning.
