The Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW) program provides students with comprehensive training in generalist social work practice by covering the nine core competencies outlined in the Council on Social Work Education's Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS, 2015). Graduates gain the skills needed for various entry-level social work roles. Following the completion of general education and prerequisite courses, students enter as upper-division juniors. Admission occurs exclusively in the fall term, with students progressing through the program as a cohort to fulfill all social work requirements over their junior and senior years. This full-time BA in Social Work spans two years (four semesters) as a cohort-based program. Enrollment is limited to the fall semester, with students starting and finishing the program together. The BASW degree is designed to be completed within this two-year timeframe.
