The Department of Administration, Rehabilitation and Postsecondary Education (ARPE) equips students to become skilled professionals, managers, and innovators in Rehabilitation. This program has maintained accreditation from the Commission on Rehabilitation Education since 1975.
SDSU's RCP allows students to earn their Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling either on-campus or remotely. Both pathways require 60 units and generally span two and a half to three years. The on-campus curriculum is taught at SDSU's main campus, primarily in Lamden Hall, with classes scheduled Monday through Thursday from 4 pm to 6:40 pm or 7:00 pm to 9:40 pm during Fall and Spring terms. While most on-campus students live in San Diego, the program also welcomes participants from other states and nations.
The distance learning alternative is fully online, supported by SDSU's Interwork Institute Center for Distance Learning (II-CDL). This option is exclusively for students living beyond San Diego County, attracting participants across California, other U.S. states, and internationally. San Diego County residents cannot enroll in the distance program, known as CDER (Consortium for Distance Education in Rehabilitation).
