The Division of Environmental Health represents one of the graduate programs housed under SDSU's School of Public Health. It provides two degree options: a Master of Public Health (MPH) with an Environmental Health focus and a Master of Science in Public Health specializing in Environmental Health Sciences.
The Environmental Health MPH serves as a professional program covering essential topics like water and air quality, food safety, pest management, toxic substances, waste disposal systems, and risk analysis, alongside foundational public health courses. Students complete hands-on training through fieldwork placements. This degree path is particularly suited for those pursuing careers as environmental or occupational health professionals. The program meets California's Option V requirements for the Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) certification, enabling qualified graduates to sit for the REHS examination immediately after completing their studies (assuming they've completed the necessary undergraduate prerequisites).
