The Master of Arts in Women's Studies is an interdisciplinary liberal arts program designed for students seeking to engage in advanced scholarship while developing practical skills in this distinctive academic discipline. This two-year graduate program fosters collaborative research initiatives and encourages active community participation. Our Women's Studies curriculum examines conventional academic disciplines through feminist frameworks, cultivates cross-disciplinary methodologies, promotes research on women's issues, and facilitates dynamic dialogue between students, faculty, and community members. Our program emphasizes the interconnected nature of systemic inequalities while addressing both local and global contexts. The department is committed to merging theoretical knowledge with practical applications to create a more equitable society that transcends barriers of age, class, gender identity, nationality, ability, race, and sexuality. With a history dating back to 1969, SDSU's Women's Studies program maintains its position as one of the nation's most robust academic offerings in this field.
