Founded on September 1, 2005, the Department of Social and Cultural Analysis brings together diverse fields including Africana Studies, Asian/Pacific/American Studies, Latino Studies, Metropolitan Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and American Studies. Our innovative academic programs represent some of NYU's most forward-thinking interdisciplinary scholarship.
The MA program in Social and Cultural Analysis (SCA) caters to driven students pursuing comprehensive interdisciplinary education across humanities and humanistic social sciences. Learners gain from our faculty's extensive knowledge and an intellectually challenging curriculum that transcends conventional national boundaries.
The program equips students with multiple methodological approaches from both social sciences and humanities - from ethnography and textual analysis to archival research and cultural studies. This prepares graduates for diverse professional paths in academic, cultural, and public sector institutions.
