San Diego State University (SDSU) provides a joint Doctoral Degree Program in Evolutionary Biology, partnering with the University of California Riverside (UCR) Graduate Program in Evolution, Ecology and Organismal Biology. This collaborative initiative includes research guidance from SDSU faculty across Evolutionary Biology, Ecology, and Molecular and Cell Biology disciplines, alongside contributions from UCR faculty and external experts. A standout feature is a required academic year at UCR, where students benefit from specialized courses, seminars, and hands-on laboratory work with UCR professors.
Research at both institutions spans diverse areas such as molecular evolution, genomics, paleontology, and population biology, showcasing evolutionary biology's multidisciplinary scope.
