The Department of Pathobiology and Diagnostic Investigation provides educational programs for veterinary medicine students. It features Master of Science and PhD programs, along with residency opportunities in veterinary anatomic or clinical pathology. Graduate studies and research can focus on either human or animal pathology. Key research fields supporting advanced degrees include toxicologic pathology, cancer research, nervous system disorders, blood-related studies, immune system diseases, infectious disease pathology, reproductive and cardiovascular disorders, and animal models for human illnesses. Disease comparison studies may involve multiple species, from humans to domestic and wild animals, with special attention to cross-species transmission.
