The BA Focus in Youth Theatre is designed for students pursuing careers as educators or teaching artists in schools and community settings. The curriculum covers the broad spectrum of Theatre for Young Audiences while teaching methods to incorporate theatrical arts across various disciplines. Learners develop expertise in creating curricula and facilitating theater-based learning experiences.

Our Theatre Arts curricula equip students for outstanding achievement across all theater disciplines. Both bachelor's and master's programs immerse participants in every facet of theatrical production, ranging from performance and musical theater to scenic, costume, lighting, and sound design, as well as dramaturgy, production management, and innovative developments in theater technology.

Qualification Requirements

If you are graduating from a high school outside of the United States, your application will be reviewed on the following admission criteria Completion of high school/secondary level. A certified copy of graduation certificate or diploma will be required prior to enrollment at SDSU. Review the Requirements by Country for country specific information.
A minimum U.S. equivalent GPA (grade point average) of 3.0 (B grade or 80 percent) or higher.
English Proficiency: If you are attending or have attended a high school where English was not the primary language of instruction, you must meet university-level competence in English through one of the following:
TOEFL Passing score is 80 iBT and 550 paper or higher.
IELTS Passing overall score is 6.5 or higher.
