Tailored for students fascinated by backstage artistry, this theatre degree concentration equips you to blend creative vision with technical expertise in crafting performance environments. You'll collaborate with professional artist-educators to build a personalized curriculum spanning set creation, costume conception, lighting schemes, prop fabrication, scenic artistry, technical direction, and costume construction. This design and production track highlights collaborative artistry while providing extensive practical experience and diverse career pathways.
Exceptional design and production students may qualify for mainstage design responsibilities, applying their learning in professional-caliber productions. Through rigorous coursework, production work, and creative problem-solving, students develop both the hands-on abilities and artistic judgment required for performance design. The demanding curriculum builds both foundational expertise and analytical skills essential for theatre careers, while cultivating work ethic, innovation, and problem-solving abilities applicable across industries. UNH alumni work nationally as production designers, technical supervisors, stage directors, prop specialists, lighting chiefs, and scenic painters.
Each student must have their official high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.

Minimum TOEFL score is 80 (internet version), 550 (paper version), 213 (computer version); recommended minimum IELTS score is 6.5; recommend Duolingo score is 105 or higher.
