Saint Louis University's Master of Arts in Family Therapy program adopts a systemic/relational approach to working with individuals, couples, and family units. This program meets all educational and clinical requirements for Missouri licensure as a marital and family therapist, with an optional specialization in medical family therapy. The 60-credit graduate program builds upon an undergraduate degree and requires 18 credits in behavioral sciences as prerequisites. Students complete coursework, two practicum semesters, three internship semesters in community settings, and accumulate at least 500 hours of direct client interaction. The medical family therapy concentration trains students to collaborate within healthcare teams to address biological, psychological, and social aspects of patient care.
