African American studies explore the comprehensive examination of racial, ethnic, cultural, and political viewpoints, experiences, and traditions among people of African descent worldwide, with special emphasis on those in the United States. Graduates of Saint Louis University's African American Studies, B.A. program gain an in-depth comprehension of the history, philosophy, arts, and literature stemming from the African diaspora, equipping them for careers in education, law, government, commerce, and creative fields.
This field of study allows students to cultivate a richer awareness of societal diversity. Through this program, students acquire expertise about the African diaspora, preparing them for careers or advanced studies where they can apply their knowledge to develop initiatives benefiting African Americans and other global diasporic populations.

A letter of financial support from the person(s) or sponsoring agency funding the student's time at Saint Louis University
A letter from the sponsor's bank verifying that the funds are available and will be so for the duration of the student's study at the University
Request a school counselor send official high school transcripts and the recommended Secondary School Report Forms directly to the Office of Admission.
Standardized test scores (ACT or SAT) may be submitted, but are not required. Applicants will be evaluated equally, with or without submitted test scores. Applicants who choose to submit the ACT/SAT, or are required to submit proof of English proficiency, can have scores sent electronically from the testing company or include them on official high school transcripts.
