SHU's Sports Broadcasting program prepares students for careers in sports media by blending classroom instruction, hands-on field production, and internships with nearby sports media organizations. Industry veterans from ESPN, NBC Sports, and The Dan Patrick Show mentor students and offer professional critiques. Participants develop skills both as on-air personalities and production crew members, creating sports content throughout their studies. Every SCM graduate completes the program with a polished digital portfolio showcasing their production work. A highlight of the Sports Broadcasting specialization is Sports Buzz, a weekly student-run sports program that provides practical experience. Students also get involved in live broadcasts of SHU's Division I football and basketball games, with select matchups airing on SNY Sports Network.
