If you're passionate about engineering, science, mathematics, and making a difference in people's lives, the biological life sciences could be your ideal path. We provide undergraduate programs in biology and biomedical engineering, along with a second major option in biochemistry and microbiology. For those aiming for advanced studies, we also have a master's degree available in biomedical engineering.
Biomedical engineers apply principles from science, engineering, and math to address and resolve medical challenges, with a primary goal of enhancing quality of life. Those specializing in biomechanics work on designing and evaluating biological systems or medical devices related to forces, stresses, and strains. This involves analyzing body or joint movements, fluid dynamics, tissue or material deformation, and the movement of molecules and chemicals through tissues and across membranes.
Rose-Hulman's biomedical engineering program prepares graduates with the medical and biological knowledge required to tackle health care issues in technical and health-related industries, as well as in government or industrial labs. Alumni interested in furthering their education in graduate/professional schools or health professions programs will find themselves thoroughly prepared for these opportunities.
