Biomedical Engineering is an expanding interdisciplinary domain that merges engineering with life sciences to address challenges related to the human body and health. The program's foundation consists of core math, physics, and engineering courses, which are standard across engineering fields. It stands out due to its extensive life science offerings and specialized biomedical engineering classes, including computational modeling, biomechanics, biomaterials, and bioinstrumentation. Additionally, the curriculum features a two-semester capstone design project and is structured to meet ABET accreditation standards. Beyond equipping students for careers in the biomedical sector, the B.S. in Biomedical Engineering provides a solid base for advanced studies in various disciplines, such as further biomedical engineering education. It also serves as strong preparation for admission to professional programs like medical, dental, veterinary, or law school. While there are no formal concentrations, students can focus on a specific interest area by carefully choosing their engineering electives.
