This graduate program equips certified K-12 educators with specialized skills to assist diverse student populations and English learners. Participants earn two valuable certifications: Bilingual/ESL and LBS1 endorsements. Graduate students help meet the critical demand for educators capable of supporting English learners who also experience academic or behavioral difficulties. The 32-credit curriculum trains licensed K-12 teachers to better serve multilingual students and those with diverse learning needs. Coursework meets Illinois state requirements for both special education (LBS 1) and bilingual/ESL endorsements. Successful program completion allows educators to add these credentials to their existing Illinois teaching licenses.
